How to Sell a Car on Craigslist
Craigslist is one of the most favorable online markets where people from all around the world may sell and purchase almost any item/merchandise. All categories are listed such as cars, jewelries, cell phones, and other services; there are even many job positions or vacancies listed.
The site allows everyone to create product offers or to advertise products whether new or used ones. Used items are always good commodities, if you know how and where to advertise them.
On Craigslist, used cars are widely advertised; it is possibly a good idea to try to offer your used cars on this website. The visitors are people from many countries, so the selling probabilities are fairly high. Considering that the process may only take minutes, this marketing method is worth trying.
If you are planning to offer a used car on Craigslist, below is a step-by-step process you should do:
1. List car information
Write detailed information about the car including brand, model numbers, release year, color, mileage, and other features.
2. Honest details
Concise information about the condition of the car is a must. If you want to sell your used vehicle, inform readers about the current condition. Logically, a used car will not be as sharp as a new one; the engine, paint, wheels, and other parts are possibly damaged. Please make an honest list of the good and bad things about the car. Some potential buyers look for damaged cars that need repairs instead of one that looks as good as new.
3. Attach a picture
Take a picture of the car from every possible angle. It is good to highlight both positive and negative sides. If the car has a scratched bumper or a broken rear-mirror, you will need to inform the conditions to the reader; if necessary, capture some images on those parts. Additional accessories whether on the interior or exterior can be additional selling points. Some pictures will help reader to notice those parts.
4. Post your car on Craigslist
After all details are ready, upload them to Craigslist.org. Once you access the page, there will be list of the categories in the center of the page. Click on “post to classifieds” link located on the top left hand corner. After that, you will be directed to follow more specific categories including advertisement type (for sale), item to sell (cars & trucks), and nearest location. Finally, there will be a writing platform where you can write all the information you have collected.

5. Hide/show e-mail address
The good thing is that you can choose to hide or show a complete e-mail address depending on your preference. If you do not wish people to know your e-mail address, the anonymous option is always better.
Please make sure that you attach the Release of Liability Form to the pink slip before giving it to the new owner. Contact your DMV and dig information about the proper procedure of selling used cars and any legal issues that may arise from it. Following the proper procedure will allow you to completely transfer the vehicle ownership; you will not be responsible for any traffic violation or accidents caused by the new owner.
